DOG IS DEAD, DJ SWITCH plus MICHAEL MAYER

We’ve been with DOG IS DEAD since the very earliest days, and whilst we’ve always known they were set for the big time it’s nice to have that confirmed by one of the world’s biggest record labels who’ve recently signed them for a phat signing on fee, some cake and a couple of chocolate hobnobs. New single ‘Hands Down’ is another banger, well at least if your definition of indie banger is ‘impossible to resist sing-along chorus anthem’. Top Ten album in the next twelve months for shizzle.

Speaking of a bangers, but of the sausage and mash four to the flour House Music variety DJ SWITCH has served up a treat of near medicinal quality. I say medicinal because this is the perfect anecdote to the David-Getta-Isation of House of the last few years. Sparse, minimal beats over laden by an incredibly fierce and raw vocal. BIG TUNE tis ‘I Still Love You’.

Significantly less heart wrenching is the MICHEAL MAYER Remix of Connan Mockasin’s ‘Faking Jazz Together’. So laid back its almost meditative, well at least till the glockenspiel (I think it’s a glock but I defer to your greater glock expertise) kicks in when it goes slightly something I can’t quite put my finger on, I do know that I like it though, pretty certain about that.
