The FOUR TET Remix of ‘Perpetual Surrender’ by Diana has a hell of a groove to it, it also has sax so what’s not to like? Love a bit of sax I do. The track sits in that relatively unique dancefloor space where it’s sassy funk swagger would work in a warm–up set and also in a main set while it’s slightly chilled vibe means it could even do a job at the after party. Multi-functional electronic music, which is the least inspiring description of a track ever, soz 4T.
BANKS is a brand new artist to me, and to most people it seems, I sense that won’t be the case for long.’Waiting Game’ doesn’t just enrapture your ears it shouts (in an under stated slightly moody kinda way) ‘HI I’M GOING TO BE A STAR’. Or something like that. I sense she’ll hear this a lot but there’s more than an element of Lana Del Ray and Video Games about this whole vibe, we’ll have to wait and see. Or maybe I should just call her as she puts her phone number out there for fans to call, that wouldn’t be weird would it? Would it??
Fun is an unusual word to use to describe music but it feels like the right one for ‘Dumb Disco Ideas’ by HOLY GHOST!, along with funkatron. And ya know if there was a band for whom fun and funkatron actually were apt words, it’s probably HOLY GHOST! (do not forget the ‘!’). This is a great funky pop track that can work the dancefloor of pretty much every club from the underground to the cheese-fests.
