LIL SILVA, BANKS, IBEYI & SBTRKT

If monks made Electronic Music, the lead track on their debut EP would sound a bit like ‘Don’t You Love’ by LIL SILVA. Electro-Monk you didn’t already exist, you are now an officially certified genre. Unusually for Monks, real or metaphorical, a female has been allowed to get involved blazing a trail for 2017’s big new sound – Nun-Hop. BANKS hoping on the world’s (possibly, ok probable) first Electro-Monk record to give it an even more seductive aura. Just not sure a monk inspired tack should be seductive really?

If not full on Electro-Monk ,there’s definitely a hint of hypnotic Gregorian chant meets Aboriginal chill out to IBEYI’s ‘River’. I have no idea what I’ve just said either. Just listen to the song yeah? It’s epic, absolutely love it, isn’t music just a fucking amazing thing sometimes?

The new SBTRKT has without doubt been my summer jam of, well, the summer. With EZRA KOENIG from Vampire watsit hopping on the vocals this is that rare track (well over last 12 months less rare to be fair) that can work as well on the underground dancefloors of New York (cause I’m like such an expert having been to New York… never) as well as the daytime radio playlists of Capital and the like.
