At times music and societal mood clash, at other moments they entwine, or at least certain artists do, with certain moments. SLEAFORD MODS are such an artist. Channeling the passion, anger and hate a decent chunk of the UK currently feels, to create fourteen tracks of Electro Argy Bargy Punk Hop (yeah you know – Electro Argy Bargy Punk Hop) on ‘Divide and Exit’. I’d call em a contemporary protest band but I know they’d tell me to fuck off.
And now for something completely different. ‘My Medyk’ by FACE + HEEL is a beautiful song, what more can I say? It’s stunning, soothing, a musical duvet to wrap yourself in and forget the twisted world explored and castigated earlier by the Mods.
And now… for something completely different. MNEK has produced a huge slab of 21st Century Pop Funk. ‘Every Little Word‘ ain’t gonna to sooth, this is a musical duvet to get busy under with the hottie from next door, and then ‘fuck to this shit’ to quote the eloquent lyrics. But this track ain’t about the lyrics, it about the insatiable beat, groove and melody that will be destroying dancefloors this summer. Apologies for the massive fucking cliche.
