WINTERSLEEP, HHYMN, PLEASURE plus NO WONDER

WINTERSLEEP win my ‘most appropriately titled band of the week award’ as well as my ‘most heart-warming make you feel good and snug’ award. On a cold day this is musical hot chocolate of the very highest calibre, ya no like some Swiss Apline shizzle. ‘Weighty Ghost’ is the track.*

Not quite as apt lyrically or in the naming context but spot on musically for these cold times is HHYMN and ‘These Hands’. This is a really beautiful track full of warmth and good vibes, if the previous track was hot chocolate this is organic carrot cake.

Funky-ass seems the apt but naff phrase to describe PLEASURE’s ‘Sending My Love’. The slap bass drives this track down the motorway of funk right to the city centre of funk town. Err Yeah, quite a catchy vocal too for a supposed instrumental.

Switch from Funk to Disco and you have the so naff its great (and they’re totally in on the joke – both on the song and esp in the funny vid) Disco Hop (as in Disco meets HipHop, sorry) NO WONDER and ‘Do It’. A fun track to make ya smile and temporarily think its not minus 5 outside.

*I understand this track has been around a long time but as its greatest achievement was reaching 54 in the Canadian charts I’m working on the principle that for most peeps its pretty new!
