YOUNG KNIVES, KING CREOSOTE AND JON HOPKINS plus WIZ KHALIFA

I’m feeling the new track from YOUNG KNIVES.  A real jaunty piece of tuneage, there’s something almost hiphop apart this slab of indie pop. And then’s the random electronic ‘bow, bow, bow’s that sound like the birthchild of a fisher price keyboard’s love affair with a raunchy Barbie Doll. Check ‘Love My Name’.

A God Darn beautiful piece of New Music is this ‘Bats In The Attic’ tune by KING CREOSOTE and JON HOPKINS. I don’t know much about KC apart from the fact they’re clearly massive in the once significant world of Creosote DIY (see creosote.co.uk for more on the industry’s sad fate, a scandal I tell thee!). What I do know is this is one of the most heart-felt, emotive and ‘stop whatever you’re doing and listen’ tracks I’ve heard so far in 2011.

It’s the sample that I really love of WIZ KHALIFA’s ‘I Choose You’. In fact as sometimes is the case with HipHop and its samples I’m not sure if I should be bigging up the contemporary artist or some girl pop group from the 60s that they’ve ripped. Not being around back in those days I don’t know the answer, educate me!
